Water is the main element of Germany’s most northern federal state. Surrounded by the North and the Baltic Seas, Schleswig-Holstein boasts a total coastline of 1,190 kilometres, as well as 32,000 kilometres of rivers and 300 lakes on a total surface area of 28,000 ha, thus providing a large variety of maritime settings. The state’s image is completed by its dreamy and rough landscapes, and its manorial castles, farms and historical buildings, such as the historic city centre of Luebeck
Its direct connection to Hamburg in the south and the gateway to the Scandinavian countries in the north make Schleswig-Holstein an attractive location for all types of genre.
